Narratology: the business of your hero’s journey is a process/tool I’ve unwittingly practiced for years and it’s now congealing into a discernable instrument that provides a compelling framework for business solutions. Are you questioning how to build a solid company culture, or praying and hoping your next marketing campaign gleans results, or trying to find the right tools your HR team can use to nurture your workforce, or are you grasping at tricks your sales force can use to be more effective? Narratology is a tool that employs the power of story to inscribe your business into the composition of the markets you serve.
We’re all convinced that story is the most powerful gizmo we have in our arsenal. However, is it practical enough to handle the requirements of day-to-day business? Can telling a better story lead to better solutions for business culture, sales, marketing, HR, revenue analysis, and the list goes on? And, the bottom line, can story directly affect it?
My experience is a resounding, Yes! Yet, it’s not child’s play to tell a great story. My hope is through Narratology we learn, coach, and implement the art, science, and practicality of great storytelling so that the business of your hero’s journey guides us to a richer world.
